Chewbacca Messanger Bag

I've always admired Chewbacca's bag. Can you imagine the kind if stuff he must carry around in there?

Probably a picture of his family back on Kashyyyk, energy packs for his bandolier, perhaps some flat-biscuits or dried Bantha jerky in case he gets hungry. The possibilities are endless.

If you had a bag as awesome as Chewie's, what would you put in it? Never thought about it before, well, you should start now.

The awesome people over at Think Geek have thought about it so much that they decided to make them!

Don't call it a man purse

Chic fashion from Kashyyyk
Adjustable bandolier-style strap
Fits a netbook, tablet, and ammunition
There are many things you should know about having a Wookiee as a friend. For starters, always, always, always let the Wookiee win. Put aside your pride. Take the fall in all games. Let him get into the bathroom first after a long road space trip. Let him get the girl. It'll be easier to pilot your ship if you retain all your limbs.

Secondly, never under any circumstances refer to his messenger bag as a man purse. It's not his fault that all man-made bags are so puny. Also, you're likely to lose a limb. The Chewbacca Messenger Bag is our homage to the most manly man purse in the galaxy. Crafted of faux leather, it is the perfect size for toting your 11" MacBook Air, a netbook, or a tablet as well as any other items you need on your daily adventures. The bandolier style shoulder strap is adjustable for heights from Ewok to Wookiee. What does a Wookiee keep in his bag? Extra ammunition, a tin of Hoth Cocoa, and a Han Solo in Carbonite Chocolate Bar, of course!

Thanks again to Think Geek for anticipating our geeky needs before we even think about it.

The Star Wars That I Use To Know

Oh Prequels, why do you get such a bad rap?

Sure, the scripting wasn't great and it's hard to make bad wording look good on screen, but it's not all bad, right? I know it's not the original trilogy, but cut it some slack. They brought an entire new generation of kids into the Star Wars fold and I think that's important.
Even I was brought into the Star Wars Universe during the Prequels, so I admit, I have a soft spot for them.

Don't get me wrong, they're no original trilogy, but I do feel that they have their place in the EU.

The guys at teddiefilms.com do not agree with me though. They disagree so much that they parodied a song about it.

Yes, parodies are all the rage these days and I will post as many as I like :P
Don't worry, I'm trying to only post the good ones.

So, what do you think about the Prequels? Do you like them? Do you watch them? Do you hate me know for admitting that I do?

Cookie Monster - Share It Maybe

If you live in Canada, as I do, and listen to the radio, as I also do, you will for sure know the song Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. I'm sure that if you don't live in Canada, you might know it as well, but here's a little known fact for you. Canadian broadcasters must play a certain amount of Canadian content per day. So when a song like Call Me Maybe, by a Canadian artist gets big, it's constantly played and played and played on the radio.

if you haven't heard this song yet, check it out

Catchy, isn't it?

Well, it seems that Sesame Street thought so when they did their own spoof of the song, involving Cookie Monster

I really love when Sesame Street does stuff like this. It makes me happy.
The funny thing about this video is that they are in an office setting. You'd think that something like this would be in a more fitting area, like a park or school. It makes me think that this is actually aimed at adults even more then they usually are.

Thoughts?

Thanks to We're Going To Go Back There Someday for sharing, maybe?

Wonder Women Sticking Together

Do you remember a few weeks ago I did a blog post about Wonder Woman Costumes For A Cause? Well, I have some neat news about it. I received a message the other day from one of the Wonder Women who's running the contest!! Yes, that's right, they were actually reading my blog!
Here's what she had to say

I just wanted to offer a super sincere thank you for the AMAZING post you wrote about our Wonder Woman Costume for a Cause Contest! I have been working on the project for a a few months now, and was SO excited that it's finally live and accepting entries. We're definitely thankful and depending on great and passionate ladies like you to help spread the word about the contest, and your post is above and beyond what we hope to see

I'll be sure to keep you updated and let you know when we have chosen finalists, etc. I'm so bummed that we can only accept US entrants! Would have loved to see some of your great ideas come to life.

It was my pleasure to reach out to you! It seriously made my morning when I found your amazing post. The YouTube video for the Wonder Woman Contest has nearly 5500 views, but we're sitting at only about 20 entries! So it's more important than ever that we keep hype up about the initiative

Thanks so much Brae. Update emails to come as the contest continues to unfold

Very cool!

I really do hope that more people decided to enter. It's such a great contest and the causes can be equally as wonderful.
Best of luck to all who entered and I can't wait to see the amazing results. This blog will follow this until the end, so stay tuned for more Wonder-updates.

Just a reminder, you don't need a contest to do something nice for others in your community.  Go out and volunteer or just be extra nice to people for a day. You never know who you can affect if you don't try

Batman Villain Crossplay

Hey all!
This is my first post from my phone, so bare with me until I can figure it out. I'm not great with stuff like this, but if I can get it to work, it means I will have a lot more opportunities to blog.

I've been invited out to FanExpo, by some new geek friends of mine. They're all dressing up as Batman villains, and I now get to be one too.

Most of the villains were taken before I was invited, so I had limited choice of who to pick. I thought about Killer Croc and Moth Man, I even considered going as the Ventriloquist, but then I saw that no one had taken the Penguin yet.

I have a soft spot for the Penguin, because he was such a gentleman criminal in the animated series. Also, penguins are my favorite animals.

So after some thinking, I decided to cross play and see if I could mix in some Zatanna charm and sex appeal.

I google searched to see if anyone's done it yet but only found one picture

Would you know that she was the Penguin? What do you think I should do to make it more obvious? I'm going to try and find a monocle and a cigarette holder, also mod my umbrella so that it at least looks sort of like a weapon. Maybe I'll make myself a penguin backpack or something.

One things for sure, I really need to get it, the con is next month.

Yes, Batman, I'm on it...

How to Properly Use A Lightsaber

Hey all,

I know I haven't been posting much lately. I've just started a new job, so the trend might continue on for a little while. I promise I will post as often as I can.

Since I'm in training for aforementioned new job, I though I would share a training video with you. And not just any training video, but one on how to properly handle a lightsaber.

I feel like I've learned a lot, how about you?  I will admit that I love this scene in the movie and the choreography is stunning, but having it broken down like that, I'm not sure I will ever look at it the same way again.

Thanks to So Geek Chic for making sure we get proper training in all our fields

Happy Canada Day!

It's Canada Day!
Yes, that's right, July 1st is Canada Day and as always, I'm proud to be a Canadian.

You know you're Canadian if :

You stand in "line-ups" or "queues" (in Victoria, BC) at the movie, not lines.
You understand the sentence, "Could you please pass me a serviette, I just spilled my
BOWL OF POUTINE" !
You eat chocolate bars instead of candy bars.
You drink pop, not soda.
You had a Prime Minister who wasn't fluent in either of the official languages (English & French).
You know that a mickey and 2-4's mean "Party at the camp, eh?!"
You can drink legally while still a teen in some provinces.
You talk about the weather with strangers and friends alike.
When there is a social problem, you turn to your government to fix it, instead of telling them to stay out of it.
You get milk in bags as well as cartons and plastic jugs.
Pike is a type of fish, not some part of a highway.
You drive on a highway, not a freeway.
You know what a Robertson screwdriver is.
You have Canadian Tire money in your kitchen drawers.
You know that Mounties "don't always look like that." (but you wish they would)
You dismiss all beers under 6% as "for children and the elderly."
You know that the Friendly Giant isn't a vegetable product line.
You know that Casey and Finnegan are not a Celtic musical group.
You drive with your headlights on during the day (since 1989, all new cars have been fitted with "daytime running lights").
You participated in "Participaction."
You wonder why there isn't a 5 dollar coin yet.
Like any international assasin/terrorist/spy in the world, you possess a Canadian Passport.
You use a red pen on your non-Canadian textbooks and fill in the missing 'u's from labor, honor, color. etc.
You know the French equivalents of "free", "prize", and "no sugar added", thanks to your extensive education in bilingual cereal packaging.
You are excited whenever an American television show mentions Canada.
You make a mental note to talk about it at work the next day.
You can do all the hand actions to Sharon, Lois and Bram's "Skin-a-ma-rinky-dinky-doo" opus.
You can eat more than one maple sugar candy without feeling nauseous.
You know what a touque is and you own one and often wear it.
You have heard of ... and have some cherished momento of Bob and Doug McKenzie.
You still sing the "Great White North" theme song with pride ... "coo-ooh-coocoo-coo-ooh-coocoo".
You know Toronto is NOT a province.
You never miss "Coach's Corner" during Hockey Night in Canada.
Back bacon and Kraft Dinner are two of your favourite food groups.
If you live in some of the colder Canadian provinces, your car has a cord and plug sticking out of the grill ... it's a block heater for those sub-zero (in Celsius) days.
You design your Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
You have more kilometres on your snow blower than your car.
Canadian Tire Store on any Saturday is busier than most toy stores at Christmas.
You've taken your kids trick-or-treating in a blizzard.
Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled in with frozen snow and slush.
You owe more money on your snowmobile than your car.
The local paper covers national and international headlines on 2 pages, but requires 6 pages for hockey.
At least twice a year, the kitchen doubles as a meat processing plant.
You head South to go to your cottage.
You know which leaves make good toilet paper now that there are no more dollar bills.
You find -40C a little chilly.
The trunk of your car doubles as a portable deep freeze.
You can play road hockey on skates.
You know 4 seasons: Winter, Still Winter, almost Winter and Construction.
The municipality buys a Zamboni before a bus.
You understand the Labatt Blue commercials.
You perk-up when you hear the theme from "Hockey Night in Canada".
You pronounce the last letter of the alphabet "zed" instead of "zee."
and ... You end some sentences with "eh," ... eh?

- Canadian-isms

And if that's not enough to be proud of, click here for a list of famous Canadians

And here is the actual Canadian National Anthem

and also in French (every Canadian child should know both versions)

I'm feeling very Proud, how about you, eh?
